Ish is starting to lose hope. He is still grieving the loss of his family and friends, and he is struggling to find a reason to keep going. Emma tries to help him, but Ish is too lost in his grief to see her. In the end, Ish finds a new purpose in life when he meets a young girl named Evie. Evie is mute, but she is able to communicate with Ish through drawings. Ish is drawn to Evie's innocence and her love of life.
