Following the attack on the Abnegation faction, Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) are now fugitives on the run from the ruthless leader of Erudite, Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet). Jeanine is desperately searching for a mysterious, locked box that holds a critical secret about the city's origins—a box that only a powerful Divergent can open. Tris must navigate complex alliances and dangerous betrayals among the remaining factions, including the rebellious Factionless led by Four's mother, Evelyn.
