Born on July 2, 1991, in Seoul, South Korea, Kim Go-eun moved with her family to Beijing, China, at age three and lived there for 10 years, becoming fluent in Mandarin. She developed an interest in acting after returning to South Korea and attending Kaywon High School of the Arts. She went on to major in drama at the prestigious Korea National University of Arts.
