Karolina Wydra was born on March 5, 1981, in Opole, Poland, to parents who were both teachers. In 1992, at the age of eleven, her family emigrated to the United States and settled in Orange County, California. As a child, she was born with coloboma, a rare eye condition where the iris does not fully close during gestation.
